Swimming Pond Project
Project Description
The pond would be approximately 3 acres in size, and have a gentle 12:1 beach slope along the west side of the pond. The beach will stretch along the pond on the West side and be approximately 170 meters long. The corner closest to the campground will be a perfect area for families, as the water will be under 1 meter in depth in the entire area. The pond will be big enough to not only use as a swimming pond, but also for some water sports, such as paddle boarding, kayaking, etc. The beach will be a great hangout spot, and have plenty of space for activities such as beach volleyball.
The layout of the beach, with the placement of the existing trees at Mile 60 Park, will offer a unique opportunity to find both sun or shade in the sand at any time of day throughout the summer. The location of the pond also does not take away from any of the existing ammenities at Mile 60 Park - all 4 baseball diamonds will still be fully functional, and we will still have space to keep all of our existing soccer fields operational.
Your support is key in turning this vision into a reality and ensuring a thriving recreational space for our community and surrounding area for generations to come.

Project Plan
Our plan is to create a swimming pond and beautiful beach at the East end of Mile 60 Park, adjacent to our recently expanded campground. We will be left with a rough hole in the field after the lagoon upgrade project, and with a lot of work, it will become a beauitful pond with a huge beach area.
We are hiring the same company that is doing the lagoon upgrade project (Earth Max Construction), as they will already have dewatering equipment in place and operational, and all of the necessary heavy equipment on site.
The project gives us the opportunity to add an exciting summer venue in our community. Our current campground would benefit massively, and the revenue generated from a full campground will allow us to maintain the pond, the beach and save for future projects for the betterment of our beautiful park.

Make a Donation
Mile 60 Park is not a registered non-profit organization. As a result, all monetary donations have to be made through the Rural Municipality of Grey. The RM of Grey has agreed to process the donations made, submit a donation receipt to the individual or business making the donation, and transfer the funds to the Mile 60 Park Committee.
In an attempt to simplify this process, we've created a form to track donations to ensure that the RM of Grey has the correct information to provide a donation receipt to anyone who donates over $50.
Donations above $100 will be included on our donor recognition project, which has yet to be decided.
